Message: I'm glad to see that the school seems to be flourishing. Once upon a time I studied at the Bolingbrook dojo, but it's been at least eight years since I've done anything martial arts. Once I'm finished with school I hope to study once again. Best wishes to all of my former instructors.

Message: Enjoyed your site-not to be smart the only correction I would make is on the description given on Master Shimabukus Kusanku sai kata. It has been taught that the throwing the sai goes to the foot. In actual combat the throw goes to the center of mass (the body) as an opponents foot is a much too small target to try to hit>Would you rather try to shoot someone in the center of mass (the body) or a foot that is moving? the sai is thrown straight down as this is the most practical way of showing the sai throw when doing the kata. Master Shimabuku gave a demo in a new gym where the floors were hardwood-he threw the sai and it went bouncing across the new floor to the dismay of the gym owners (this was on Okinawa). Thank you for your site. Ha
